This original graphite drawing was completed during an intensive five-day classical drawing workshop focused on traditional atelier methods and academic figure study. Working directly from a live model, the piece explores the structure, balance, and subtle tonal shifts of the human form through careful observation and layered graphite rendering.
The pose features a standing male figure resting against a pedestal, a traditional motif often used in classical ateliers to study weight distribution, gesture, and anatomical relationships. Particular attention was given to the gradual transitions of light and shadow across the torso, limbs, and surrounding space—hallmarks of classical academic drawing practice.
This work was created using graphite on paper, building tone slowly through repeated layering and blending to achieve depth and form. The result is a quiet, contemplative study of the human body rooted in the long tradition of European atelier training and life drawing.
